Cynon Trail

Thursday was forecast no rain, a very occasion lately, so we took advantage and went for a ride along the Cynon Trail.

These photo's were taken on the part between Aberdare and Hirwaun.

Lots of history here as part of the route was this old tramway, with the wagons pulled along the rails by horses.  You can just make this out on the middle picture.  This bridge has stood the test of time, as it was built in 1811.

Easy peasy loaf

...well its recipe name is the Grant loaf.  Here's the recipe, there is no kneading  involved and it doesnt take long from start to finish, under an hour.
450 g Wholewheat flour
½ teaspoon salt
360 ml water at blood temp
1 ½ teaspoons of dried yeast.
1 teaspoon sugar
Mix salt and flour
Place 1 tablespoons of the water in a cup and sprinkle in the dried yeast.  Leave for 2 mins.
Add the sugar and leave for a further 10 -15 mins by which time there should be a thick creamy froth.
Make a well in the centre of the flour and pour in the yeast and the rest of the water.
Mix well by hand, working from sides to middle until the dough feels elastic and leaves the sides of the mixing bowl.  The dough should be slippery.
Warm and grease a 2 lb tin and put the dough in.  Put in a warm place and leave for 20 mins or until the dough is nearly to the top of the tin.
Before baking sprinkle sesame seeds on top and very gently press them into the dough.
Bake at 200C for 35 – 40 mins

There's lots of restoration work being done in the Park and I thought this large picture frame was a nice fun addition.

Sunlight on water

There's still lots of water in the rivers due to the never ending rain.  This was the Taf on Sunday  outside Pontypridd.
