Easy peasy loaf

...well its recipe name is the Grant loaf.  Here's the recipe, there is no kneading  involved and it doesnt take long from start to finish, under an hour.
450 g Wholewheat flour
½ teaspoon salt
360 ml water at blood temp
1 ½ teaspoons of dried yeast.
1 teaspoon sugar
Mix salt and flour
Place 1 tablespoons of the water in a cup and sprinkle in the dried yeast.  Leave for 2 mins.
Add the sugar and leave for a further 10 -15 mins by which time there should be a thick creamy froth.
Make a well in the centre of the flour and pour in the yeast and the rest of the water.
Mix well by hand, working from sides to middle until the dough feels elastic and leaves the sides of the mixing bowl.  The dough should be slippery.
Warm and grease a 2 lb tin and put the dough in.  Put in a warm place and leave for 20 mins or until the dough is nearly to the top of the tin.
Before baking sprinkle sesame seeds on top and very gently press them into the dough.
Bake at 200C for 35 – 40 mins

  1. Oh your loaf looks delicious.

I had to chuckle at the difference of words in recipes. I would say room temp ~ to your blood temp.

I must try this!! Thanks for the recipe.

  2. I'm with Wanda - have to try it. But that blood temperature gave me a start.

  3. Maybe the terminology is down to our colder climate!!!
